Cookie Policy
Last updated May 4, 2026
This policy explains the cookies TechOwl Shield uses, what each one does, and how you can control them.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help us remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the service is used.
Cookies we use
| Category | Purpose | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Sign-in, security, CSRF protection (sso_server_session, XSRF-TOKEN) |
Yes |
| Functional | "Trust this browser" so you can skip 2FA on this exact device for 30 days (sso_trusted_device) |
Opt-in |
| Sub-app session | One per linked app (shield_admin_session, shield_dmarc_session, …) — set the moment you SSO into that app |
Yes |
| Analytics / advertising | None. We do not run third-party analytics, retargeting, or advertising cookies of any kind. | — |
Managing cookies
You can control non-essential cookies from your browser settings or by clearing site data. Trusted-device cookies can also be revoked individually from your Active Sessions page. Disabling essential cookies will prevent the service from functioning correctly.
Third-party services
We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Product analytics is performed in-house, on our own infrastructure, with no identifiable data shared externally.
Browser-side storage
The platform does not use localStorage or indexedDB for authentication state. Our front-end is server-rendered Blade with progressive enhancement; sub-pages mostly work without cookies, but sign-in itself requires them.
Updates
We may update this policy as cookies are added or removed. Significant changes are highlighted at the top of this page and announced via the in-product We've updated our policies banner.
